Biography

Cécile is an innovative Australian composer, performer, and educator. In 2018, she was inspired to compose and record 12 Novelettes for solo piano to add to the repertoire of this versatile instrument. These innovative novelettes were inspired by  experiences of life, looking inward and looking outward. This most recent album of original music – The Enchanted Muse was recorded in Scotland ( 3 extra tracks offer the amazing combination of Highland bagpipes with piano).

Other albums include Essencia Urbana 2016tangos and fados for viola and piano, recorded in Portugal; and  Rosas para vos, 2009, an experimental fusion of Jazz and Tango, recorded in Montville, Queensland.

Cécile’s composition output includes: 28 piano solos, 6 songs for baritone voice and piano, 12 works for viola and piano, a work for oboe and strings; and trumpet and piano duo.

“Tango, for a Sleepless City” for piano trio, was commissioned by The Muses Trio and has been broadcasted many times on ABC FM Classical radio along with Tangos and Fados from Essencia Urbana. Cécile includes elements of classical, modal jazz, and multi-cultural facets in her style. Her doctoral research document, “Tango, from Perception to Creation,” can also be found online in the research collection of the Queensland Conservatorium, Arts, Education and Law, Griffith University, Australia.
